Mission, Vision, and Goals
Mission Statement
In partnership with Notre Dame’s colleges and schools, the JTS Initiative advances a distinctive model of sustainability as flourishing, rooted in hope, justice, and connection. Through the pursuit of leading-edge research, holistic education, and equitable partnerships, we seek to catalyze transformative change towards a just and sustainable future, grounded in the best available science and foundational ideas of integral ecology.
Vision Statement
We envision a world in which human dignity and ecological integrity flourish together.
Goals
To deliver on our mission to catalyze transformative change grounded in the best available sustainability science and foundational ideas of integral ecology, the JTS Initiative advances four interconnected goals.
Goal 1: Demonstrate how a sustainability research agenda fundamentally rooted in integral ecology and integral human development and intensely focused on transdisciplinary collaboration, bold ideas, and place-based approaches can achieve tangible and lasting benefits for scholars and students, for policymakers and practitioners, and for communities around the world.
Goal 2: Create a globally recognized and replicated model for training undergraduate and graduate students to build a more just and sustainable world through their careers, their service to society, and their day-to-day actions.
Goal 3: Bring together and mobilize the knowledge, skills, and networks of the Notre Dame and South Bend communities to advance transformative tools and approaches that can be applied locally and scaled globally.
Goal 4: Elevate and advance the priorities of our partners and the communities they represent.
